Filson

The comfort, protection, and durability of Filson’s wide range of outdoor gear have never gone out of style in over a hundred years of production. Their long history of honest reliability is built on the solid foundation that C.C. Filson pursued indefatigably. A former Nebraska homesteader and railroad conductor, C.C. Filson moved to the small town of Seattle, Washington in the 1890s and started up an outfitter for area miners, loggers, and fishermen. He quickly built a reputation of integrity for both himself and the gear he was proud to sell. From the earliest days and still honored today, Filson offered a lifetime guarantee.

When the Klondike Gold Rush began in 1897 and thousands travelled through Seattle to the far north where winter bites like wasps, Filson was sought out to outfit the fortune seekers, keeping in contact with his customers to continually improve his goods to meet their specific needs. If he didn’t stock an item a customer needed, he custom made it. The same ethos is followed today, the heritage of field tested quality continues while innovating and modernizing.

Using mostly the same materials they’ve sourced for over a century from mainly US manufacturers, Filson produces apparel fit to weather. In his 1914 catalog, C.C. Filson wrote,

“The goods we quote must not be confounded with the cheap and vastly inferior grade with which the market is over-run. Such goods are not only useless for which they are intended, but the person wearing them would be better without them.”

And the same is still true today.
